Scan documents without an app
You do not need a scanner app to turn paper into a PDF. Open this page on your phone, press Take photos, photograph each page, and download one PDF. The camera runs inside the page, so there is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.
How to scan pages to PDF with your camera
- Press Take photos and allow camera access when your browser asks.
- Place the page on a flat surface and take a photo. Repeat for each page. The small thumbnails at the bottom show what you have taken. Tap the cross on a thumbnail to retake it.
- Press Done. Your photos appear in a list where you can change their order.
- Choose One PDF to get all pages in one file, or Separate PDFs for one file per page.
- Press Create PDF, then Download or Share.
No gallery clutter, no storage used while you shoot
Photos taken here are held in your browser's memory. They are not saved to your phone gallery and they are not uploaded. A file is written to your device only when you press Download. If you press Share instead, you can send the PDF to another app, such as email or a chat app, without saving it first, on phones that support it.
Tips for clear scans
- Use bright, even light. Avoid shadows from your hand or phone.
- Keep the phone parallel to the page and fill the frame with the paper.
- Hold still for a second before you press the button.
- Use landscape for wide pages. With the A4 option, landscape photos get landscape pages.
- Use the Flip button to switch between the back and front camera.
What can you scan?
Assignments, handwritten notes, forms, receipts, certificates and ID card copies all work well. This tool saves your pages as pictures inside a PDF. It does not recognise text, so the words in the PDF cannot be selected or searched.
Already have the pictures?
Use Image to PDF to convert photos you already have. To shrink the result, try Compress PDF. To combine several PDFs, use Merge PDF.
Questions
Is Camera to PDF free?
Yes. It is free, with no login and no daily limit.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in current versions of Safari, Chrome and other modern browsers, on phones and computers. Your browser will ask for camera permission.
Are my photos saved in my gallery?
No. Photos taken with the in-page camera stay in your browser. A file is saved only when you press Download.
Can I scan many pages into one PDF?
Yes. Take up to 50 photos and choose One PDF. Each photo becomes one page.
Can I make each page its own PDF?
Yes. Choose Separate PDFs and download them one by one or as a ZIP.
Why does the page ask for camera permission?
Your browser needs your permission before a website can use the camera. The picture is processed on your device and is not uploaded.
Can I use my laptop webcam?
Yes. The same Take photos button opens your webcam on a computer.
Does it recognise text (OCR)?
No. Pages are saved as pictures, so text in the PDF cannot be selected or searched.
